World Learning Summit
Never before in human history has more information been available, at the same time, for more people. One would think global learning and education reflects that fact, but access to education is unequal and concerns with the “digital divide” are real. The Learning Society and Education as a Social Institution is on the one hand unevenly available, and on the other hand a key agenda for organizations such as the UN.
Based on the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, World Learning Summit 2019 will begin a process of defining a “World Learning Charter” – a vision for the future of learning that will guide agenda-setting for World Learning Summits to come.
Beginning on June 5th 2019, the plan is to define a set of principles for that discussion, to be developed further on June 6th and June 7th. If you are interested in participating in this process, please sign up for the June 5th break-our session and consider participating also on the next two days.
The charter as of 2019 will be published in the World Learning Summit 2019 Official Proceedings. Along with the publication will be a list of charter signatures. As we summarize WLS 2019, there will be a call to continue working on the WL Charter, with invitations to educational institutions and education stakeholder interest organizations.
