WORLD LEARNING SUMMIT 2019
PHD and writers´ COLLOQUIUM
JUNE 3-7 2019
UNIVERSITY OF AGDER
colloquium theme 2019:
the digital transformation of education and society
Digital technologies are impacting on education and society, representing challenges of transformational power on learning both formally and informally. Education as a social institution is affected, as are learning practices, pedagogy and our very thinking about what it means to be a learner and to be a learning society in the first place. Seldom have the calls for an interdisciplinary approach to research been more forcefully placed in front of us. This is why we call specifically for an interdisciplinary framework for the colloquium discussions in 2019.
The World Learning Summit is an arena for researchers, educators, education institution managers, policy-makers and entrepreneurs to enact a common agenda. Hosted by the Future Learning Lab – a Research Center at the University of Agder – WLS is known for its annual gathering of high-level international speakers and thought leaders. At the core of the colloquium is our World Learning Summit Official Proceedings, which is an accredited publication channel, indexed and searchable, with Open Access url identifiers, answering to Level 1 in the Norwegian official accreditation system.
The WLS 2019 PhD and Writes´Colloquium begins one day prior to the main program of WLS 2019. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and be advised by truly inspiring international thought leaders in various fields of scholarly writing. All colloquium PhD and project advisers will be present throughout the World Learning Summit, offering many more opportunities to connect.
Each colloquium participant will have ample time to present either a paper or an ongoing project. Presentations will be subject to peer review, upon which each participant will be invited to publish her or his paper/project in the WLS 2019 Official Summit Proceedings. There is no commitment to publishing with WLS. Upon submission of a paper completed with commentary from the colloquium and participation in the full WLS event June 5-7, PhD students will receive a badge/diploma and a recommendation that their published/publishable paper be granted the equivalent of 5 ECTs by the institution hosting their PhD project and employment. This is in recognition of the participation in the colloquium and the full WLS event.
