WORLD LEARNING SUMMIT 2019
FutureJam
JUNE 6-7 2019
UNIVERSITY OF AGDER
Futurejam theme 2019:
A learning challenge: Growing up without "real" money
Like education as a social institution, banks are facing a future where material conditions of the past no longer apply. How do institutions of finance and money management understand the challenge of society´s digital transformation? And can we work together to think up new understanding?
At the DnB HQ in Oslo (Den Norske Bank – The Norwegian Bank) there is a unit called NewTech Lab, where issues such as these are everyday concerns.
In the WLS 2019 FUTUREJAM workshop, we collaborate with NewTechLab to take a peek into the future.
Essentially a technology lab at DnB, the questions raised very much concern society, learning, norms and practices of dealing with money as a form of cultural code, as well as ways and mans by which new generations are socialized into the culture of money. What happens when no material money exist, when everything is digital, and when there is no such thing as a stack of paper bills passing from one person to the other?
These are clearly aspects of knowledge, of learning, and of socialization. Are we in a new “revolution”, and if so: What can the banking industry learn from the education sphere and vice versa?
